Investigación
Nuestras líneas de investigación actuales son:
- Uso de estimaciones satelitales de precipitación y otras variables hidrológicas para el monitoreo de sequías y como forzantes de modelación hidrológica.
- Evaluación de los impactos del cambio global en los recursos hídricos de una cuenca.
- Análisis de eventos hidrometeorológicos extremos.
- Desarrollo de herramientas de código abierto para la gestión y análisis de datos hidrometeorológicos
- Paisaje y regulación hídrica: Medidas de adaptación para enfrentar el cambio climático.
En el periodo 2020-2024 nuestro observatorio estará abocado a cumplir los objetivos del proyecto de colaboración internacional Chile-China NSFC190018, el cual busca entregar propuestas de manejo territorial que permitan disminuir los impactos negativos del cambio global en los eventos hidrológicos extremos en cuatro cuencas con distintos desafíos asociados a los recursos hídricos.
Las cuatro cuencas seleccionadas para este proyecto son las cuencas de Petorca en Longotoma (región de Valparaíso), Mapocho en Los Almendros (región Metropolitana), Cauquenes en Desembocadura (región del Maule) y Trancura antes de Llafenco (región de La Araucanía).
